Porter's Real Barbecue
Porter Kinney, Owner/Pitmaster, Porter's Real Barbecue
When Porter moved back home to the Tri-Cities in 2009, he brought back two things from South Carolina: his wife Kate and a passion for authentic barbecue. Porter and Kate spent the next few years searching the Pacific Northwest.
Unable to find anything that lived up to the great barbecue he had in the South, Porter became obsessed with mastering barbecue for himself. After five years of experimentation, trial and error, family, friends and co-workers began requesting that Porter make his barbecue for their events. It wasn’t long before his personal obsession became his mission – to bring REAL barbecue to the people of the Pacific Northwest. Porter went to work building a food truck in his driveway. Eight months later, in September of 2014 Porter’s Real Barbecue was born!
Hoping to get at least ten customers a day, to start, they were humbled to see a line of more than thirty people at opening on the first day of business. By day three, the crowds had grown so large that they were selling out of everything Porter could make within a few hours. Customers haven’t stopped coming since!
Porter’s Real Barbecue has received numerous awards and national recognition. Porter is committed to spreading his love for barbecue and doing it with an emphasis on quality and authenticity.
Currently, Porter’s Real Barbecue has grown their footprint to 3 restaurant locations in Washington (Richland, Kennewick & Pasco), as well as a commercial kitchen in the Tri-Cities, with plans to expand the brand into new markets in the near future.
